At first glance it might be hard to see what a nine-year-old girl and a multi-millionaire entrepreneur have in common. But Richard Branson's letter to Honor Smith may surprise you. The Virgin boss penned a handwritten note to the nine year old following a letter she sent to him about how much she loved his #likeadyslexic videos.<br /><br />The 64-year-old is one of the UK's most successful businessmen, but he's never hidden the fact that his dyslexia made him seem different from other children during his school days.<br /><br /><a href="https://www.blogger.com/null" name="more"></a><br /><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding: 4px; position: relative; text-align: center;"><tbody>

His videos make the point that dyslexics can do amazing things, and alongside himself, he includes Professor Stephen Hawking, Albert Einstein, John Lennon and Keira Knightley among others.<br />Honor's note told Sir Branson that when she was diagnosed with dyslexia she thought her life was ruined, but the letters made her feel much more confident.<br /><br />The businessman wrote back thanking Honor for writing, adding: "If anyone ever puts you down for having dyslexia, don’t believe them. “They believed the house would contain items of value because Arnesha’s grandmother has a job and owned two vehicles, and planned to break into the property and steal any valuables,” police wrote in a report.<br /><br />Police said the men knew Bowers’ grandmother was working and Bowers was home alone. If the teen awoke, police said, Dixon planned to put her in a chokehold.<br /><br />The pair entered through a basement window, police said. Bowers awoke, police said, and Dixon dragged her into the basement while Childs ransacked the home, taking money from purses and a safe.<br /><br />According to police, Childs told detectives that Dixon and Bowers were in the basement for 30 minutes.<br /><br />Then Dixon came upstairs and said they needed to leave “because the house was on fire,” police said. Dixon told Childs the girl was dead, police said.<br /><br />She had been raped, strangled, her body had been set on fire, as had her bed, dresser and a basement utility room, police said. They said a check of her phone showed calls between her phone and a phone belonging to Dixon hours before she was killed.<br /><br />Police said Childs confessed to the killing and burglary and implicated Dixon. Police arrested Dixon hours later.<br /><br />“Killers,” Batts said. “Sixteen-year-old, innocent teenager. … Nothing is more important than tracking down and jailing cowards who take the life of an innocent child. Nothing.”<br /><br />Court records show Childs was released from a Baltimore County jail on a burglary charge five days before Bowers was killed. Childs was charged with attempted murder in 2011, but prosecutors dropped the charge.</div>

The Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega, on Monday reviewed his tenure as the boss of the electoral body and concluded that his only regret was that he was unable to create a separate salary structure for INEC workers.</div>

Jega spoke in Abuja during a retreat  titled, “2015 general elections: Lessons and the way forward.” which was organised for the electoral officers of the commission where the report of the 2015 elections was reviewed.<br /><a href="https://www.blogger.com/null" name="more"></a></div>

He said apart from the special salary issue, the commission under his leadership performed well.</div>

He said,</div>

“We have done our best as a commission under very difficult circumstances and the major regret as I have always acknowledged is that a major undertaking we made when we first resumed at the commission is to have a separate salary structure for the members of staff of the commission but we have not been able to achieve this</blockquote>

“And obviously this is one area where we still have to do a lot of work and put in a lot of efforts as we move towards the future and to improve.</blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
“But apart from that, I don’t think we have done badly in terms of promoting the welfare and the wellbeing of the members of staff.</blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
“We have ensured that salaries were paid regularly, we have ensured that there are a lot of opportunities for self improvement through the organisation of seminar and workshop with our partners.”</blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
“Again as I said, we could not have satisfied the expectations of everybody, we believe that we have done our best. I must say that not all of you are happy with some of the measures that we have introduced as a commission.</blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
“The restructuring and reorganisation certainly could not have satisfied everybody because it required trimming down the size of the commission and also redefining schedule of responsibilities and putting square pegs in square holes as we called it at that time.”</blockquote>

Jega, who had insisted that he would leave INEC after the expiration of his tenure, said that the 2015 general elections were better than those of 2011.</div>

He added that there was a lot of room for improvement and that as the country prepares for future elections, the commission must begin to reflect on what areas of further reforms it should focus its attention on.</div>

One 60-year-old resident, who asked not to be named, said: “It was quite unusual to hear one loud sound with no lightning. I wondered what it was, and a short while later I heard sirens. Since then there have been police all over the village and the house has been cordoned off. It is really sad for something like this to happen.”</div>

The owners of the large sandstone house were named locally as Stephen Nicoll, 53, and his wife Helen, both partners at a private dental practice in Hurst Park, Cambridge. They have three children.</div>

The couple met at The Royal Dental Hospital in London, both qualifying in 1984. Helen Nicoll initially followed a hospital career in oral surgery, including a two year registrar post at Cambridge’s Addenbrooke’s hospital.</div>

Friends and colleagues described her as a “dedicated professional” who was also devoted to her children.</div>

Patients described their shock at the news of Dr Nicoll’s death. In a tribute on Facebook Joanna Simpkin said: “Awful, awful news. Helen was such a beautiful person and made me feel so comfortable sitting in that chair, 26 years she’s been my dentist. Nobody will ever be the same.”</div>

Another of Dr Nicoll’s patients Gill Muir said: “This is heartbreaking news and I cannot understand why anybody would want to do this to Helen. I have been a patient at Hurst Park Dental Surgery for years and Helen was a lovely lady, always smiling and welcoming and I am devastated by this news.”</div>

The large L-shaped home, believed to have more than six bedrooms, was built 14 years ago when the couple moved to the village, seven miles east of Cambridge.</div>

Mr and Mrs Nicoll bought a small bungalow on the plot for £385,000 in December 2000 and the following year they were granted planning permission to demolish it and replace it with a new family home, now thought to be worth between £1 and £2 million.</div>

The house, at the lower end of the village, backs onto fields and is surrounded by several thatched cottages.</div>

She said: “All I know is that I was woken up this morning by this really loud bang, the whole village heard it. It woke up my dogs as well, they started barking and going mad.</div>

“I didn’t really think anything of it, I just thought it was a rumble of thunder of something. Somebody in the road said it was an explosion but it’s all just hearsay. About 20 minutes later police and forensic experts arrived.”</div>

She added: “The whole road is really shocked and no one really knows what happened. I spoke to someone who lives two door away from where it happened and he said his whole house shook. It’s really sad.”</div>

A spokesman for Cambridgeshire Police said: “We were called at about 6.30am to reports of a sudden death in Frog End, Great Wilbraham. Officers are at the scene and a cordon has been put in place. The death is being treated as suspicious."</div>
